For a city full of people who enjoy carving down mountains of snow in frigid temperatures with the wind in their faces, biking a few miles to and from work in the winter should be a cinch — especially with our dry and often balmy weather.

The hard part of changing your daily commute behavior is, well, changing it. That’s why Winter Bike to Work Day, which is tomorrow, exists. It gives people a jump start by offering things like breakfast burritos, coffee, and hot chocolate on the way to your daily grind.

Winter Bike to Work Day isn’t quite as expansive as Bike to Work Day in the summer, but it’s catching on. Here’s where you can grab some breakfast tomorrow:

30th and Champa

Bike Denver and Denver Bcycle will welcome riders from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the southeast corner of Curtis Mestizo Park. They’ll be serving up coffee, hot chocolate, tamales from The Creamery, and Clif Bars. If you need your bike tweaked, a mechanic will be there to help.

Colfax and Pontiac

Come happy hour, Fiction Beer Company at 7101 E. Colfax Ave. has by one, get one beers.

40th and Colorado

Northeast Transportation Connections and Prodigy Coffeehouse will have breakfast and coffee for riders at 3801 E. 40th Ave., right by the RTD station. Grab it while it’s hot from 6:30 to 9 a.m.

15th and Cleveland

If you’re using the 14th, 15th, or 16th Street bike lanes, make a pitstop near 15th and Cleveland, where the Denver Regional Council of Governments and the City and County of Denver will have breakfast burritos, coffee, and hot chocolate waiting for you from 6:30 to 9 a.m.

Bannock and Speer

Denver Health will be serving breakfast at 660 Bannock St., near the front entrance to the hospital at Bannock and Speer, right off of the Cherry Creek Trail.

Louisiana and Washington

Nixon’s Coffee House right across from the Louisiana-Pearl RTD station will have coffee and other stuff to charge you up from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m,

University of Denver

Head to Sturm Hall at 2000 E. Asbury for hot drinks and warm food. “Reward yourself for burning calories without burning fossil fuel!”

Here’s a map with info on other events around the region, including some stuff in the afternoon. Have fun out there, and if you like it, don’t forget to bike to work on Monday, too.
