To many, “winter biking” sounds like an oxymoron. To Tenly Williams, it is pure love.

A group of Denver bike advocates created a “low-stress bike map.” The idea, which the city and some bike advocates have mixed feelings about, is to get more people riding bicycles now — instead of waiting several years for the city to build out a more complete network of protected bike lanes. 

Cynicism aside, it's fun, and it can be a gateway for people who are nervous about changing their commute habits. Plus you get free food and other stuff.

If you bike commute tomorrow, you can get things like breakfast burritos, coffee, and hot chocolate on the way to your daily grind.

It's time for that one day of the year when reverence for one particular tool of travel takes hold of local media, businesses, nonprofits, and public officials. Bike to Work Day is Wednesday.

About 34,000 people in the Denver metro area were expected to pedal to the office today for Colorado’s Bike to Work Day. Wednesday is Bike to Work Day in Colorado, which means a lot more people than usual will be commuting by bike. The Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) expects about 34,000 bike commuters in the greater metro area, compared to about 18,000 on a typical day.
