According to the National Association of City Transportation Officials, corners with huge turning radii have a direct correlation with drivers making high-speed turns that endanger pedestrians trying to cross the street. Urban street corners with a radius of more than 15 feet should be rare, NACTO says. Most of these downtown corners are at 25 feet.
It's hard to deny the importance of experiencing a street's pedestrian-hostile environment, but showing officials how it negatively impacts residents may be the next best thing.
Denver doesn’t need more parking and the traffic that comes with it. But if more parking garages are coming, they should be future-proofed for a world with fewer cars and less traffic.
