A failure of leadership caused the current crisis at the Regional Transportation District. Gov. Polis, members of the Colorado General Assembly and RTD's board of directors are to blame.

Governor Polis and Mayor Hancock announced this morning that the ride-hail company Lyft will add 200 electric vehicles to its Colorado fleet, a move Polis says will clean up polluted air and save drivers money.   

A vision for the 5280 Trail, a “linear park" that could one day form a five-mile loop around downtown Denver, was unveiled yesterday. It would transform streets into tree-lined places for plazas, playgrounds and public art — while creating a low-stress place for people to stroll and ride bikes to, from and within downtown. 

Denver's plan to complete its bike network will take 18 years. In a word, that’s unacceptable.

A cyclist was hit and killed by a reckless driver at one of Denver's many unsafe intersections, the first person on a bike killed so far this year. Scott Hendrickson, who was 62, was an energetic and well-liked member of the local bicycle community.

Traffic fatalities are up 29 percent this year in Denver with 37 dead already compared to 29 at this point in 2018. The numbers grew last week after drivers killed two pedestrians in Denver and a third in Aurora after a frightening hit-and-run Saturday night.

Drivers caused 541 crashes on Denver’s streets last week, sending three people to the hospital with serious injuries, according to preliminary police statistics. Compared to a year ago, there were 523 crashes, 3.3 percent fewer.
