A plan to widen the road to Denver International Airport, which would make traffic worse and wipe out the city’s newly-minted goals to cut greenhouse gas emissions, will get a vote from the Denver City Council on Monday.

Traffic fatalities are up 29 percent this year in Denver with 37 dead already compared to 29 at this point in 2018. The numbers grew last week after drivers killed two pedestrians in Denver and a third in Aurora after a frightening hit-and-run Saturday night.

Officials from the Colorado Department of Transportation showed off ideas to fix a dangerous, congested stretch of Interstate 25 that passes through Central Denver.
