Concrete curbs will stop cars from entering the bike lane, which DPW will paint tan to further distinguish it. Parked cars (as well as a bike corral and a B-Cycle station) will add extra protection from traffic.

There have been 10 crashes at 13th and Broadway since 2012, including a fatal hit-and-run. I checked out the new signal during morning rush hour, and it's clear that driver's couldn't care less about the new rule — never mind that it's meant to save lives.

Denver Public Works Now Convenes “Rapid Response Teams” After Fatal Crashes

As of December, the city is taking a more systematic approach to addressing the problem. Denver Public Works now convenes "rapid response teams" after every fatal crash involving a pedestrian, bicyclist, or motorcyclist.
