Traffic Violence Report: 35 people have been killed on Denver’s streets
So far in 2021, 35 people have died from traffic violence on Denver streets. Seven of the victims were on foot, one was on a scooter, six were on motorcycles, and 21 were in vehicles. At this point in 2020, 23 people were victims of traffic violence in Denver. 2021 fatalities are increasing at an alarming rate.
On June 15, Hidat Ghebrab was hit by someone driving possibly a white minivan near Court Place and Park Ave. The driver fled toward I-25. On June 18, Roberto Zarate was killed by a person driving a truck while walking on the sidewalk on E Evans Avenue. The driver has not been located.
In 2020 in Denver, 57 people died from traffic violence.
In 2016, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock pledged to end all traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2030 with the Denver Vision Zero Action Plan.
